Caroline currently lives in Brooklyn working as a freelance photographer, photo editor at Bloomberg Businessweek, and zine lady at Girl Pains. She tries to care as much as she can.” – Caroline Tompkins
The photographs we’ve chosen to highlight here are her intimate portraits. Tompkins practice feels completely unobtrusive. The subjects seem to exist in perfect harmony with the camera, sharing glances and gestures with a comfortability that is expressed only when you feel at your greatest ease. Her lighting is soft and rounded, and blankets the subjects complimenting their vulnerability in the images. There is nothing harsh or stark in the work’s execution, but rather a warmth that as a viewer feels like an invitation to lie down beside it.
